I found Kori when I had MusicChoice on in the background and Dancing in the Clouds was played (featuring Jeff Oster, T Bone Wolk, Jeff Haynes, Jeff Silverman), & Jim McCarty). I fell in love with the total composition and arrangement of this piece and I was hooked.
That is what is best about this album: some of the best artists today in this category (Including William Ackerman), brought together with Kori on exquisitely produced music that spans Kori's considerable range of music.
This collaboration reinforces the theme of each song. For example on Crystal Fields Eugene Friesen's cello and Jeff Oster's horn add to that sense of unsettledness that occurs at midnight, when one is between sleep and a mind wrestling with the remaining weight of the day's thoughts.
Buy this album for one piece: love it for all the pieces.
I discovered Trillium years ago when I first started listening to Kori's music and its always remained on my playlists. Some of my favourite songs on this album - it stands the test of time...
Kori's music manages to both calm and energize me at the same time. This record is the first to make me fall in love with her approach to the piano. The last song is my favorite. I could listen to 3 Degrees over and over, and I have actually now that I think about it. Excellent work from one of my absolute favorite piano artists.
In a catalaog of tremendous pieces of musical inspiration, Trillium stands out as Kori’s best and most engaging work. It’s not often that you can feel the emotion a composer is attempting to convey in a single piece much less an entire album but Kori manages to do just that. A truly inspirational and uplifting musical journey that should be an essential part of every music lovers collection.
